Are Hypedome Garden Pods Hailproof?
We often hear this question: ‘Are your domes really hailproof?’. Now, we understand the concern. Our domes have the clarity of a philosopher’s mind and the lightness of a feather… Well, not really. The S size weighs about 110 kg (240 lbs) but still, they might seem delicate.
The truth is – they are far from it! These mighty domes are crafted from solid, thick polycarbonate, with crash resistance 200 times greater than glass.
So, to put these claims to the test, we embarked on a journey to a nearby golf course, fully prepared for a day of ‘rigorous testing’. Our Hypedome stood tall as a practice target, primed to face whatever challenges our team and a professional golfer could throw – or swing – its way!

We headed to the golf course to put Hypedome through its paces with our high-impact hailstorm test
Hypedome and the Team Get Ready
As the first few seconds of our video show, you only need a few willing family and friends to move Hypedome into a nearby location before quickly anchoring it safely in place. It’s easy to relocate, simple to realign, and we aim to prove that it’s impossible for a hailstorm of golf balls to damage.
Our test subject was the stylish Hypedome S and our weapon of choice was the trusty golf ball — buckets and buckets of them in fact. Why golf balls? Because if they fall to earth and Hypedome emerges unscathed, we don’t need to worry about any inclement weather, including hail or strong winds.
The Hypedome team took classes with a professional player, learning how to strike a golf ball with real venom (and mixed results). Luckily we’ve edited out a few of our shanks and mishits and created a video that we’re not too embarrassed to have our friends and family see. Hypedome Easily Makes Par
What happens when top-tier domes and a team passionate about great customer service go head to head? No matter how hard or often we struck Hypedome, it made par so easily out on the course that we felt like we were making triple bogies while it was hitting birdies, eagles and even the occasional hole-in-one for good reason.
Disclaimer: No birdies or eagles were harmed in the creation of this video, whether from flying into Hypedome or from (just a few) rogue golf shots. And just so you know; yes, we admit we’ve got a little carried away with our golfing terms!
Knowing we’re not all natural golfers, we started throwing the golf balls from close range — still not a scratch or dent. Each ball just bounced off and rolled away. Hypedome had well and truly come out on top in every hole we played against it. It was a resounding defeat for the golf ball hailstorm and a 15-stroke victory for Hypedome.
What Else Did We Learn?
No matter how hardcore or extreme the next hailstorm gets, Mother Nature is sure to be impressed by the strength and resilience of Hypedome. Good news for those of you who want to be able to sit back and relax, knowing your dome is in perfect condition all year round.
We also learnt that while some of us were more natural in the driving range than others, Hypedome had the measure of all of us. So much so that if you want to position a dome on the 19th hole for drinks, it’s not going to be the least bit worried about a few stray tee shots coming its way.
