Nestled in the woods of Sullivan, Maine – just a stone’s throw from the famed Acadia National Park – is a glamping hideaway where modern comfort meets raw wilderness. It’s called Nature Nooks, a name as cozy as the experience itself. At its heart are two stunning glamping dome suites made with the Hypedomes L Mirror, geodesic structures that reflect the surrounding forest like a portal into another world.

Created by Edoardo Centioni – a former startup founder and real estate investor with a passion for travel – Nature Nooks was born from a desire to offer something different: an escape that blends design, comfort, and a true connection to nature.
Q: How did the idea for Nature Nooks come to life?
Edoardo: I had the idea for about three years. I was living a typical 9-to-5 life and felt the urge to build something creative and income-generating. I started combining my real estate experience with my love for travel and hospitality. After staying at several glamping sites around the world, I thought – what if I created a place that was truly special, where people could reconnect with themselves, with nature, and with their loved ones?

Finding the land in Sullivan was the first step. The site had no utilities, so it required a lot of research and planning – not just on location, but also on what kind of structures to build. I explored everything: prefab cabins, treehouses, canvas tents… but none felt right. I wanted something with a “wow” factor.
Q: What made you choose Hypedome over other options?
Edoardo: I’d stayed in domes before – in places like Iceland, Jordan, and across the US. But they all looked the same. When I found Hypedome, and particularly the L Mirror model, it stood out immediately. I’d never seen anything like it here in the US.

When we were installing it, even the construction crews were amazed. The plumbers, electricians, carpenters – everyone stopped to take pictures. It was a showstopper. And now that it’s open, guests love it too. It’s rainproof, solid, but visually light. It reflects the forest, almost like it’s camouflaged – yet at the same time, it looks futuristic.
Q: Tell us about the layout and setup of your glamping site.
Edoardo: Right now, we have five units – three are prefab cabins made from wood and metal, and two are the Hypedome Mirror domes. The domes are called Nova Nook et Gaia Nook, names that echo the cozy and secluded atmosphere of the site. I call them nooks because they’re like reading nooks in a home – quiet, tucked-away corners, but in nature.

I stayed in each unit myself for a few nights to fine-tune the details. I wanted to make sure that the overall experience was comfortable and intuitive – if something didn’t feel right to me as a guest, I knew it needed to be improved before welcoming others.
Q: What’s inside the dome suites?
Edoardo: Each glamping dome suite has a full private bathroom – something you don’t often see in domes. I think that’s a big differentiator. In many other glamping setups, the bathroom is outside, which is fine in summer, but not ideal in colder months.

I designed the interior layout myself after visiting trade shows and other domes. There’s an L-shaped partition wall that separates the sleeping area from the bathroom. There’s a queen bed, mini split AC and heating, a kitchenette with microwave, mini fridge, tea kettle, and even a Nespresso coffee machine with a frother – being Italian, that was non-negotiable.

We also added a Marshall speaker, telescope, books and board games, Wi-Fi, and small details like cozy lighting on the decks that make the whole thing feel romantic and immersive.
Q: How do guests react to staying in a geodesic dome?
Edoardo: They love it. One couple celebrated their one-year anniversary here and had a great time. The feedback has been really positive. People are amazed by the design – it’s just so different. The dôme hexagonal panels and mirrored exterior create this experience that’s both intimate and open.

Q: What kind of guests do you usually host?
Edoardo: Mostly couples. The whole site is really designed with couples in mind. The dome suites don’t have space for large groups, and I think that’s part of the charm. Some of the cabins can fit a third person or small children, but the domes are romantic, quiet, and perfect for two.
Q: What about the local area? What can guests do during their stay?
Edoardo: Nature Nooks is located right next to Acadia National Park, one of the most visited parks in the US. From May to November, there’s hiking, biking, kayaking, puffin-watching, and even lobster fishing. We offer water access for kayaking right from the site. There’s also a fire pit, BBQ grill, and plans for future glamping amenities like a sauna or hot tub.

Even just five minutes away, there’s a hidden lake with trails. The region has disc golfing, regular golf, and a ton of local restaurants. If someone wants nightlife, Boston is just a few hours away – but this place is really about slowing down and reconnecting.
Q: Is Nature Nooks open year-round, or do you have a specific season for guests?
Edoardo: For now, we’re open from May 1st to November 1st. This past season was a bit shorter due to construction delays, but we already welcomed around 20 different guests in just a couple of months. The main reason we close in winter is due to infrastructure – the ground freezes deeply here in Maine, and that affects plumbing and utilities. But the Hypedomes are absolutely winter-ready, and I’d love to take advantage of that in the future. A snowy forest, cozy inside a dome – it’s something really romantic and poetic. So expanding into a winter glamping experience is definitely on my radar.

Q: Are the domes a good business investment?
Edoardo: I think so! Of course, it depends on your location and market. But compared to permanent structures or other hospitality options, domes offer a much faster and more accessible entry point. Some built cabins are significantly more expensive to install, while dômes géodésiques – especially with the features Hypedome offers – strike a great balance between uniqueness and investment feasibility. I’m hoping for an 18-month return on investment, which I think is very good considering the quality and uniqueness of the product, as well as the furnishings and layout inside.

One of the domes, Gaia Nook, just opened and already had four reservations before I even listed it publicly. That shows me there’s strong interest, especially for something as visually striking as a dôme de glamping.
Q: Would you do it all again?
Edoardo: Absolutely. It was a lot of work, but I’m proud of what I created. Nature Nooks is more than just a glamping site – it’s a space for reflection, connection, and beauty. The dômes d'accueil we’ve built offer something unique. I wouldn’t change a thing – except maybe I’d take more photos of myself with the domes while building them!

Reflecting Nature, Reflecting Dreams
There’s something almost poetic about staying in Edoardo’s glamping dome suite. From the outside, the dôme miroir disappears into the forest, reflecting the trees and sky. From the inside, it frames the world in geometric beauty, wrapping guests in comfort while keeping them close to nature.

Whether you’re drawn in by the aesthetic appeal, the sustainable architecture, or the thoughtful interior, Edoardo’s glamping dome suites offer more than just a stay – they offer a moment of pause in a world that rarely slows down.
If you’re looking for a place to reconnect with nature, celebrate a special occasion, or simply unwind in a truly unique setting, visit Nature Nooks in Maine. Step inside, and experience what it means to feel at home – under the stars.
