Q: Your rooftop dome looks incredibly cozy and inviting. Can you tell us more about this space?
Isabel: Well, our Hypedome Mini is located on our own rooftop. We bought the apartment in December, and while it came with a rooftop, we realized that in a place like Rotterdam, we’d only get to use it for about two months a year because of the weather. So, we started looking for solutions to make it usable all year round. That’s how we found Hypedome.
Q: Was the dome your first choice, or did you look at other options too?
Isabel: We didn’t know about the domes initially. We started by looking at glass houses, but they needed concrete supports, which wasn’t practical for a rooftop. While researching, I came across Hypedome. I thought it was cool, but when I showed it to my boyfriend Misha, he was like, “Oh my God, we need to get that!” He was immediately sold on the idea, and his excitement got me on board too.
Q: How do you and Misha enjoy the dome now that it's set up?
Isabel: We love hosting brunches with friends. The dome is perfect for sunny days that turn chilly at night. We barbecue outside and then eat inside the dome. Last week, for example, it was sunny during the day but got really cold at night, so the dome was perfect. We even had a party in it on Eurovision day, and everyone was thrilled. The dome has really transformed our rooftop into an all-year-round entertainment spot.
Q: Rotterdam can be quite windy. How does your rooftop dome hold up in such conditions?
Isabel: Rotterdam is extremely windy. Even summer nights can be cold. But the dome is like a shelter; it doesn’t budge, even in strong winds. When we assembled it, it was during a strong wind on a freezing day. It was tiring, but once we finished, it felt so rewarding to see it standing strong and looking great on our rooftop.
Q: Speaking of satisfaction, could you share your experience with our customer service?
Isabel: I love it. I’ve worked in marketing and consumer experience for over 15 years, and Hypedome’s service is exceptional. I even shared our story with my sister in Colombia, who teaches customer experience at a university. I told her, “You have to see this – they’ve thought of everything!” From the manuals to the sunshade sail we just received, every detail was impressive.
Q: That's wonderful to hear! And how does the dome integrate with your urban view?
Isabel: Our rooftop is on the fourth floor of an old Dutch house, giving us a wonderful urban view, especially with the city lights at night. The dome adds a unique touch to the skyline. Fun fact: you can see the tip of our dome from the main museum in the city. Friends visiting the museum spotted it and told us, so we went to see it ourselves.
Q: It’s like having a tiny landmark right in the heart of Rotterdam! Has the dome impacted your life?
Isabel: The dome is perfect because we see it as an extra room. We enjoy brunches and gatherings with friends. It allows us to use our rooftop all year, no matter the weather. We love to check people’s reactions when they first see it. Everyone at my office knows about it, and our family and friends are always asking how it’s going with our rooftop dome. It’s such an innovative addition that people are really curious about it.
Q: It sounds like your rooftop dome has transformed your apartment into one of the best spots in the city, is that right?
Isabel: Misha jokes that our neighbors, who live in expensive apartments in the tallest buildings next to us, are envious because we enjoy our rooftop while they rarely use their balconies due to the wind. The dome has truly elevated our outdoor living experience!
