Q: How did the idea for this unique Airbnb dome come to life?
Shubhika: When we found this property, called Yosemite’s Mountain Majesty, I saw the mountain view and the open space and instantly thought, this is where I want to place a dome. I’d had this vision for a while – to offer something memorable, something guests could experience beyond just a regular stay. When I discovered Hypedome, everything fell into place. It was exactly what I had in mind – a cozy Airbnb property with a dome.
Q: Tell us a bit about the property itself.
Shubhika: It’s a large mountain property with five bedrooms – it can host up to 18 people. The dome is an additional space that we use as a sit-out lounge. It’s right next to the main house, with views of the surrounding landscape and lots of natural light. We also have a pool and a hot tub on the side and some play structures for families with kids.
Q: You mentioned the mountain views - how would you describe the location?
Shubhika: It’s near the Yosemite National Park, just a 40-minute drive away, so the views are absolutely stunning. You can see both the sunrise and a clear night sky from the dome. In winter, the whole area is covered in snow, and in summer it can get quite hot – but the dome handles both extremes well. We’ve added dome heating for the colder nights, and it’s never leaked, even during heavy snow. That’s something I really appreciate – it’s solid and reliable.
Q: Was the dome always part of the plan?
Shubhika: Yes, the dome was part of our Airbnb from day one. I didn’t add it later – it was always meant to be a feature. I can’t say exactly how it’s impacted bookings revenue-wise, since we started with it, but it definitely enhances the visual appeal. It’s like one of the key pieces in the whole design puzzle – the layout of the lights, the mountain view, the stairs we built leading to it… It all comes together.
Q: How do guests use the dome?
Shubhika: People use it in different ways. We have the transparent Hypedome S, which is really versatile. Some guests do yoga or stretching in the morning. Others just like to relax inside, especially when it’s cold outside. We’ve had people sit there late into the night, just hanging out with each other. It’s cozy, quiet, and a great space for connection. One guest mentioned stargazing in a dome – and I agree, that’s my favorite too. Sometimes we turn off all the lights and just enjoy the sky from inside the dome.

Shubhika: Yes! I’ve noticed that many reviews mention the dome specifically – I’d say about one-third of them. It’s something that stands out and guests remember. The LED lighting and setup make it extra special. People also love taking photos there – it’s definitely an Instagrammable spot!
Q: Who usually stays at your place?
Shubhika: We have a mixed crowd. Some are families – we attract them with our child-friendly amenities. Others are groups of friends or people celebrating milestones like birthdays or anniversaries. We don’t allow events, but people do come to mark special occasions and just be together.
Q: Do you and your family enjoy the Hypedome yourselves?
Shubhika: Absolutely. My kids love it. For us, it’s a space to spend time together and relax. When it’s too cold to be outside, the dome becomes our favorite hangout spot. It’s part of our family’s experience too – not just the guests’.
Q: Would you consider adding another dome to a future property?
Shubhika: 100%. If we ever get another rental property, I’m definitely bringing a dome with me. It would be like our signature feature. It’s more than just a structure – it’s an experience, and I’d love to offer that again.
