Work OUT with Chris: Episode 2 - Shoes For Your Garden Pod Workout

As promised in the video, I wanted to share with you a couple of inspirational resources on the topic of barefoot running.

Personally, I was introduced to it by this fellow: Christopher McDougall. Chris - what a great name! Anyway, He’s the author of a book Born to Run and here’s his TED Talk which I couldn’t recommend highly enough.


The second link is a very recent (end of April 2020) article getting a bit more into detail about the science behind running with no shoes. If you don’t have the time to read, just take 10 seconds to scroll down and review the 2 drawings you’ll find there.


Figure 1 shows exactly how I’d like to be able to run barefoot:

Whatever you do out there, please stay safe and it’s always good to consult a doctor. However, running on a treadmill in your garden pod is almost a perfect scenario to get started. A flat surface which is protected from the rain might provide the safest environment in which to try a new running technique.
